For San Diegans, Roberto DePhillippi is one of the grand names in the restaurant world. Founder of countless restaurants with a variety of styles, he dedicated decades of his life to delivering customers the total experience—fresh, classic meals served in an atmosphere that made every night a celebration.
The cornerstone of all of his ventures, however, was always our restaurant. Such celebrities as Frank Sinatra, Jimmy Durante and Jack Lemmon took breaks from their trips to the racetrack to dine on prime rib. Bob Hope, Sammy Davis, Jr. and Jack Lemmon bent an elbow or two at the bar. Athletes like Pete Rose, Rollie Fingers and Tommy Lasorda made pilgrimages our way.
Since 1968 The Steak House on Broadway has been in the same location, using the same recipes, and recreating the excitement of Roberto DePhillippi’s vision.
